Friday Favorite: Grisha Trilogy (Books 1&2)

Friday Favorites is a weekly post where I share favorite books or series of mine that I’ve previously read. Hopefully they’ll become favorites of yours too!

Grisha Trilogy books one and two by Leigh Bardugo
Grisha Trilogy books one and two by Leigh Bardugo

The Grisha Trilogy has only two books out right now, Shadow and Bone and Siege and Storm. Leigh Bardugo has created a world full of complex and loveable characters, intriguing magic, mystical creatures, romance, friendships and a plot full of twists and turns that will leave you hooked until the end. The action isn’t heavy but the story keeps you captivated from start to finish. I was reluctant to try this series at first, but now I consider it one of my favorites! Here is a synopsis of the first book, Shadow and Bone, from the author’s website:

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha…and the secrets of her heart.

Happy reading!

P.S. Just to clarify, there was no post this Monday for This Weeks Read because of Remembrance Day. Don’t worry though, I’ll be back next week!
