The Final Countdown

It may feel like you’ve been waiting for years, but it’s always worth it. Here are the books whose release dates I’ve been counting down until they finally hit the shelves!

United We Spy by Ally CarterRelease date: September 17, 2013

From the publisher:  Cammie Morgan has lost her father and her memory, but in the heart-pounding conclusion to the best-selling Gallagher Girls series, she finds her greatest mission yet. Cammie and her friends finally know why the terrorist organization called the Circle of Cavan has been hunting her. Now the spy girls and Zach must track down the Circle’s elite members to stop them before they implement a master plan that will change Cammie-and her country-forever.

Get ready for the Gallagher Girls’ most astounding adventure yet as Ally Carter’s New York Times best-selling series comes to breathtaking conclusion that will have readers racing to the last page.

Why I’m counting down the days: The final installment of Ally Carter’s amazing Gallagher Girl’s series is almost out, and I find myself both dreading and eagerly awaiting this day. Dread, because one of my favorite series will be over, and eager, because Ally Carter never disappoints. Each installment has been filled with action, humor, and a cast of characters I love with all my heart.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

Release date: September 17, 2013

From the publisher: Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after . . .

Why I’m counting down the days: Maggie Stiefvater blew me away with the first novel in the Raven Boys Cycle, mostly because she was just getting started. The first book left me thirsting to find out what would happen next to our Scooby-Doo gang comprised of Ronan, Gansey, Blue and Adam. I love a good mystery, and even more when the paranormal are involved, so all I can say is bring it on!

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

Release date: September 17, 2013

From the publisher: From the glittering streets of Manhattan to the moonlit rooftops of Paris, falling in love is easy for hopeless dreamer Isla and introspective artist Josh. But as they begin their senior year in France, Isla and Josh are quickly forced to confront the heartbreaking reality that happily-ever-afters aren’t always forever.

Their romantic journey is skillfully intertwined with those of beloved couples Anna and Étienne and Lola and Cricket, whose paths are destined to collide in a sweeping finale certain to please fans old and new.

Why I’m counting down the days:  September 17th seems to be my lucky day! This series from the ever so talented Stephanie Perkin’s is just so fun and heartwarming. I look forward to finding out what Anna and Etienne and Cricket and Lola have been up to, and just what kind of crazy mess Isla and Josh will get themselves into. Whatever it is, I know I want to be there for the ride!

Endless Knight by Kresley Cole

Release date: October 1, 2013

From the publisher: Evie has fully come into her powers as the tarot Empress, and Jack was there to see it all. As one of twenty-two teens given powers following the apocalypse, she now knows a war is brewing, and it’s kill or be killed. When Evie meets Death, the gorgeous and dangerous Endless Knight, things get even more complicated. Though falling for Jack, she’s drawn to Death as well. Somehow the Empress and Death share a romantic history, one that Evie can’t remember-but Death can’t forget.

Why I’m counting down the days: I started out as a fan of Kresley Cole’s adult series, and when Poison Princess came out, I figured I’d give it a try-and I am glad I did. The mythology behind the series is very unique, something I’ve never read before. The last book left us on a cliffhanger (that’s putting it mildly) and I will not be able to rest until I know what happens next!

Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier

Release date: October 8, 2013

From the publisher:  Gwen has a destiny to fulfill, but no one will tell her what it is.
She’s only recently learned that she is the Ruby, the final member of the time-traveling Circle of Twelve, and since then nothing has been going right. She suspects the founder of the Circle, Count Saint-German, is up to something nefarious, but nobody will believe her. And she’s just learned that her charming time-traveling partner, Gideon, has probably been using her all along.
This stunning conclusion picks up where Sapphire Blue left off, reaching new heights of intrigue and romance as Gwen finally uncovers the secrets of the time-traveling society and learns her fate.

Why I’m counting down the days: Another series I am sad to see finishing, though I am very excited to see what Kerstin Gier has in store for the final installment. The series has had me curious from the start, and look forward to having all of the many secrets from the time travelling world finally revealed. If only I could just time travel to the future so I would know!
